About YoungLives Chesapeake

YoungLives Chesapeake, a ministry of Young Life, provides holistic support to pregnant and parenting teens. Their mission is to empower teen moms to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and practically while breaking cycles of poverty and trauma.

Programs That Change Lives

YoungLives Chesapeake currently serves teenage mothers in Chesapeake, VA, through a holistic, mentorship-driven program that includes:

One-on-one guidance and care

On-site care, transportation, and resources

Monthly gatherings for encouragement

⛺ Summer Camp
Faith and community experiences

👩‍👧 Parenting Skills
Workshops and practical training

Right now, the program is reaching 16 teen moms at Oscar Smith High School, supported by 3 dedicated mentors. Many of these young mothers face poverty, unstable housing, or lack of family support—yet through YoungLives, they find hope, stability, and connection.

How the $6,000 Grant Will Be Used

Program Expansion ($1,200)

Recruiting and training new mentors, launching additional clubs at local schools.

Material Assistance ($1,200)

Crisis support and a baby gear lending library.

Camp Sponsorship ($1,600)

Transportation, lodging, meals, and childcare for summer camp.

Staff & Program Coordination ($2,000)

Supporting part-time staff, data collection, and event coordination.

Through mentorship, prayer, and scripture reflection, teen moms are equipped with both practical tools and spiritual guidance to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
