A message from our President
Dear friends,
When we founded the Morring Community Foundation, we made a simple promise: help would reach people quickly, without red tape, and with dignity. This report shows how we kept that promise.
In 2025, the year we filed our first annual return with the IRS, generous donors and sponsors contributed $107,923, and we returned $82,600 directly to the community through five partner organizations. In 2026, our Fifth Annual E. Palmer’s Grocery Gift Card Giveaway put another $40,000 in groceries in the hands of local families.
None of this was accomplished by paid staff. We have no employees and no independent contractors. Our board serves without compensation, and more than 90 registered volunteers have given over 1,000 hours to make our events possible. That is the heart of who we are, and it is why your gift goes so far.
Thank you for standing with us.
Charlene A. Morring, Esq.President, Morring Community Foundation

Creepy for a Cause
$50,000presented to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore on October 31, 2025
Our signature fall gala brings the community together in costume for a night of fun with a serious purpose. Sponsors, table ambassadors, and guests turned our inaugural event into the largest single gift in the Foundation’s history, a $50,000 investment in regional hunger relief.
Every dollar of that gift is food on the table for neighbors across Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore. Our second annual gala took place on October 31, 2026; its results will appear in next year’s report.

E. Palmer’s Grocery Gift Card Giveaway
$40,000in grocery gift cards at our Fifth Annual Giveaway in 2026, every dollar given to the community
For five years, we have partnered with E. Palmer’s, the only Black-owned grocery store in Virginia, located on East Berkley Avenue in Norfolk. Families receive gift cards to shop for what they need, with no applications and no paperwork, just help delivered with dignity.
The approach does double duty. Each card feeds a household and keeps dollars circulating in a community-owned business that anchors its neighborhood. In 2026, we nearly doubled our 2025 giveaway of $20,600.

Powered entirely by volunteers
The Morring Community Foundation has no employees and no independent contractors. Our board members serve without compensation. Every event, every gift card, and every check is made possible by people who believe in doing good and giving back.
When you give to the Foundation, you are not paying for overhead. You are joining a team.
